The reels have been designed to work by ratchet or on free run. The appropriate mode is selected by pulling and turning the selection knob which is located at the bottom of the spool. Because of its unique design, the reels are snag-free and the tension of the spool run may also be adjusted to suit individual needs.

'THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB.' |
|
| Strengths: |
Extremely robust, easy to handle with thick gloves on, seems to be designed to prevent the line fouling during SMB deployment, line is thick and highly visible to make avoiding entanglement easy, enough line to send up a bouy from the bottom on most sport dives! Oh, and it has slight friction on the reel to prevent too much line spinning off and causing tangles when the bouy reaches the surface. |
| Weaknesses: |
It's relatively large and heavy. |
| Overall: |
I had a small plastic reel which consistently let me down. A few bits broke on and had to be glued back on, it was fiddly to operate.
I bought one of these and it is robust, easy to use and confidence inspiring. A great piece of safety kit.
This reel makes the difference between DSMB deployment being a fiddly chore and a trivial exercise. Which do you want it to be when things have started going wrong? |
