A.P. Valves SMB with 0.1l Cylinder
The new self-sealing BUDDY SMBCi (Surface Marker Buoy - Closed with Inflation Cylinder) features a lightweight aluminium mini-cylinder (choice of 0.1 or 0.2 litre) which is mounted at the foot of the buoy just above the internal baffle.

Bright Red SMBCi, HiViz Red & Yellow, or all-Yellow Signal Buoy.

Simply attach a line or reel and you have a superb decompression marker buoy and also a buoy that can be used as a standard surface marker.

The SMBCi features a lightweight aluminium mini-cylinder (choice of 0.1 or 0.2 litre) which is mounted at the foot of the buoy just above the internal baffle.
Cylinder Dimensions: 0.1 litre - 115mm x 50mm diam. 0.2 litre - 180mm x 50mm diam.
Easily replenished from the main cylinder, the mini-cylinder is small enough to fold unobtrusively inside the SMB to be stowed in pouch or pocket.
Deployment is simply a question of unfurling the SMB and cracking open the cylinder.
Developed from the popular BUDDY SMBC, the SMBCi also features a self-sealing baffle so that when inflated the mouth is sealed preventing accidental deflation at the surface.
Unlike normal open-ended 'sausage-style' SMBs both the SMBC and the SMBCi can be waved to attract attention at the surface.
An over-pressure / dump valve prevents bursting and allows deflation after use.
One key advantage of the BUDDY SMBCi over similar systems is that it can still be inflated via the baffle in the usual manner – with a DV or an air-gun - in the event that the diver has forgotten to fill the mini-cylinder.
Also like the SMBC the new marker buoy features a specially designed flap which folds over the mouth to prevent any ‘sea-anchor’ effect when being towed as a permanent marker buoy.
The new BUDDY SMBCi is available with either DIN or International A-clamp fittings.
Now available in original red, HiViz red and yellow or the all-yellow.

  'A GREAT PIECE OF KIT!'
Strengths: The best thing about this DSMB is that it is so easy to use. You just crack open the bottle and it is away, no risk of free flow from DV and no messing about trying to get it unfurled, upright and inflated.
Weaknesses: It is quite big, so I hang mine from a D-Ring, bungeed to the reel. The cylinder is a pressure vessel so should be tested but AP Valves do an exchange service.
Overall: Don't forget to fill it! With it attached to the reel, and held by bungee (feed the bungee through a plastic bead so you can get the bungee off easily even with cold gloved hands)it cuts down the task loading so must be safer!I use mine with a DME reel for up to 40 metres dives and with a McMahon for deeper or Trimix depths, tried lots of other DSMB's and can't beat this one.Good value at about £70-shop around or dive shows.
